The liqueur was first awarded a gold medal in 1950 as "best dry Italian anisette liqueur". It has a unique flavour and stands out from other Mediterranean aniseed-based liqueurs.
The intense and long-lasting aroma gradually transforms into aromas of wild fennel, dill and caraway, enriched by floral aromas. The flavour changes and develops as it matures, is moderately dry, and is reminiscent of the same intense and long-lasting aromas of aniseed, cucumber and wild fennel. The aftertaste is long-lasting, harmonious and very pleasant.
Varnelli L'Anice Secco is very versatile and can be consumed neat, on the rocks, before or after food. It gives life to cocktails. Pairs well with cigars, dark chocolate, ice cream, sherbet and fruit. Can be used in both sweet and savoury baked goods. Often used by Italians as 'the most authentic combination with caffè corretto' - this 'fix' does not change the taste of the coffee, but rather complements and enhances it.
